More than 20 years ago, International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) developed Business Charter for Sustainable Development. The objective is to urge business organizations and enterprises for actions in combating increasing scarcity of natural resources and deterioration of environment.

16 principles for environmental management were defined. By endorsing the ICC Charter, companies are required to apply the principles.
